Presente continuo
- He’s waiting for you.
- They’re playing football.
- You’re working in the office.
- You are using the Internet.
- You are studying English grammar.
- I’m watching TV.
- Are you still working at the same company?
- More and more people are becoming vegetarians.
- More people are using technological tools in education.
- We are going on vacation tomorrow.
- I‘m meeting my boyfriend tonight.
- You’re going to Quito in the afternoon.
Para describir una situación o acontecimiento temporal.
- He usually plays drums, but tonight he‘s playing bass.
- The weather forecast was good, but it‘s raining at the moment.
- Today you are here, tomorrow you’re going to your house.
- Harry and Sally are always arguing.
- He constantly is complaining about his father-in-law!
- You forever are playing on the computer.
Forma afirmativa
Estructura de las oraciones afirmativas
Aquí usamos el verbo to be + la forma in -ing del verbo.
For example:
- He is going to the office.
- They are coming from Martha’s house.
- We are watching a movie in Charles’ house.
Forma negativa
Estructura de las oraciones negativas
Aquí usamos el verbo to be + not + la forma en -ing del verbo.
For example:
- I‘m not reading my book.
- He isn’t listening to me.
- They aren’t sleeping in their houses.
Preguntas
Structure of questions
For example:
- Are they speaking on the phone with your mother?
Yes, they are.
- Is the baby still crying?
No, he is not crying.
- Where is the dog eating his food now?
The dog is eating his food outside the home.
Excepciones:
- This coat feels nice and warm. (perception of coat qualities)
- John‘s feeling much better now. (healthier)
- She has three dogs and a cat. (possession)
- He‘s having supper. (eating)
- I can see Anthony in the garden. (perception)
- I‘m seeing Anthony later. (we intend to meet)
